It is my final project in year 1. Although I have a little bit problem of understanding in context, I try to figure out my problem and I still finish my project. My initial idea is about rubbish. Waste is a serious problem in human. People are getting more wasting. They don’t know how to treasure the resource of the earth. They don’t understand that may affect our next generation and the environment quite badly. I intend to start with rubbish and recycling. Recycling is a serious global problem and I want to input recycling idea into my photography. Then, it would be a rubbish photography or recycling photography. Therefore, I’ve taken my rubbish documentary photography.
I ‘ve been trying to take more photographs about rubbish. I think the plan so far is to create interesting rubbish photography. I’ve had a few rubbish ideas of this project, then I choose these pictures as my final pieces eventually.
If you look at the picture single by single, it is a lot of difference to look the pictures together. First, the plastic bags picture shows the world is linking together for solving the problem of pollution globalisation. There are too many plastic bags, it is not environment friendly. If every country keeps on polluting and the world is going to be covered by plastic bags.
When you see a collection of my pictures together, you can see the vaule of the bags that have a wide gap. It represents a social stratification or soical class. By looking at these collection of photographs, I want the people understand the social class. Social Class is an informal ranking of people in a culture based on their income, occupation, education, dwelling, and other factors. Plastic bag represents lower class(the poor), paper bag represents working class, the normal bags represents middle class, the luxury bag(Gucci) represents upper class/ the rich.
Or it makes the audience think of how many different bags we use in our everylife.
At first the people use loads of plastic bags but it is not eco-friendly so the people start using paper bags. However, paper bags are still not eco-friendly enough. Therefore, the people are using bags with different material that could be reused again and again. Eventually, the people only need one bag to put all our junk in it. We can just use one bag to solve all the pollution problems. Encouraging people to choose environmentally friendly(eco-friendly) products(bags).
That could be an advertising of Gucci bag that just buy a Gucci bag. At the end of the picture, there is only Gucci bag in the world.
Here it’s my stories about these pictures. Overall, I am quite happy with my final pieces because I think it is quite creative, unique and interesting. I do not put any title on the wall next to the pictures because I want the audience think by themselves. I am looking forward the audience tell me the other messages/stories about these pictures.
P.S. It is quite funny that I brought all of my bags to the school studio from home. I could name this collection ‘All my bags’.

I’ve just seen this picture from facebook share by one of my friend. I think it is very similar to my pictures in this project. It is a bunch of chanel bags. Actually, I could put it as the last piece in my collection. This picture represents the richest class which is upper class or bourgeoisie, even nobles. As a single picture, it is a dream of every woman.

The photographs are interesting to me as it shows the messy places. I like the colourful objects and the wide angle of view in the pictures. His photographs are big, bold, rich in color and details for all the panache of his signature style. He made the cheap normal things becoming the most expensive photograph. Even me had a postcard of 99 Cent. I admire his powerful skill for the photograph. He made Untitled XIII(the picture of rubbishes) become a piece of art that is something I really want to do in this project.

Andreas Gursky - 99 Cent

Andreas Gursky. Untitled XIII
When I had taken picture of a can of coke, it reminded me the soup can by Andy Warhol. I have been to MOMA and seen these pictures in person. I like the graphic and colour in the picture. He made the normal soup cans become a great artwork. Maybe I can make the rubbish become an fantastic artwork as well. Suddenly, I got a crazy idea that find 32 different brands of can drinks and take pictures on them. Then, display them exactly like the artwork of 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans in MOMA. However, I didn’t do it because it is not easy to find 32 kinds of can drinks and it’s not my intention of this project. At least, I have done some thinking. Maybe I will try this idea in the future or even design my own 32 can drinks.

I could say this picture is an accident. I want to shoot a paper as one of the rubbish but if it is pain white, it doesn’t look very clean. It is like nothing in the white background. Therefore, I write ‘paper’ on the white paper. It looks ridiculously funny and weird. Then, I decide to use newspaper instead of this ‘paper’.

I’ve taken another version of the rubbish photography because I want to compare two styles and choose the better one. A hand is taking the rubbish to recycle in every picture.

It is more likely a product photography than not rubbish photography. In these collection of pictures, I try to show that the products can be recycled after we used. I intend to use the ‘I love crap’ T-shirt for sarcasm as the first picture of these collection. T-shirt can be recycled, for example: we can give our old clothes to the charity organization. There are many products can be recycled such as can, bottle, newspaper, battery, CD, moible phone, cleaning product, cartridge and clothes.
Why do I take these pictures with plain white background in the studio? Firstly, even rubbish can have their own beauty, it is just a question of how you see it.Secondly, showing the audience a relaxing and comfortable space that can encourage the audiece do the recycling as soon as possible.Thirdly, if you don’t recycle the rubbish immediately, there will only have rubbish in the further. There only has one product(rubbish) in the plain white space(the future of earth). Prouct represents rubbish and plain white space represents the future of earth.
